Are you tired of feeling like you have wasted an entire year of fitness on the Holidays? Holiday binging is pretty routine for most of us, but you can nip this tradition in the bud with a few simple tips. Perhaps this year you plan on joining a holiday weight loss challenge at work, or at the gym or just with friends. But what can you do you keep the pounds off specially if you are sitting most of the day? Below are some “healthful” work tips to help you have a successful holiday weight loss challenge this overindulgent time of year!

At Work

Add movement no matter how small. Park in the farthest parking spot and add those extra steps on the way to your desk. Avoid elevators and take the stairs. Use a step counter if possible to help count your steps, they make it easy to track and compare your daily step count. Avoid the holiday sweets at work unless you can find that extra time to walk and find ways to hold yourself accountable, perhaps share your step count with a friend or family member.

For every 30 minutes you're at your keyboard, stand up, sit down, circle your hands and wrists, stretch your neck from side to side, stand up, sit down, stand up, stretch your arms out, bring your knees up one at a time, sit down, stand up, stretch some more. You might even want to invest is a cheap set of weights to keep at your office.

Have a meeting? Turn it into a walking meeting and you will not only stay ahead of your weight loss goals for your holiday weight loss challenge, but your productivity will increase as well. Can you get a quick workout in at lunch? Find a gym by your office or go outside for an energizing walk. Try to eat something healthy during the day if you know you will be having a heavy dinner and a few drinks after work. Find balance and your body will thank you for it.
