STUDY: Here’s Everything Millennial Parents Are Worried About
Millennials seem to be the generation that America can’t get enough of. But now, the young adults who are traditionally viewed as preferring to stay-at-home and dependent on their parents, are all grown up and having kids of their own. Since at Microban, we think life should be about worrying less and living more, we decided to find out exactly what’s stressing millennials out now that they’re calling themselves mom and dad.
We surveyed over 1,000 millennial parents to learn what’s keeping them up at night and the results were surprising. Above everything else, money is stressing them out, big time. So much so in fact, that 64 percent of our participants said that finances are the primary worry in their life, above time, health and their family.
So, which financial factors are playing into this fear? A variety. Everything from being financially secure (49 percent), job stability (three percent) and the current economic situation (two percent) are playing into their worries. But the other 36 percent of the participants weren’t completely unworried about finances, in fact, 92 percent of all participants agreed that being financially secure is a worry spot for them and their family.
Health came in as the second biggest worry spot for millennial parents, with 11 percent of participants listing it as their primary worry and 30 percent listing it as their second biggest worry. Factors for health included staying healthy, the health of their children and their family’s safety.
While most millennial parents are primarily worried about their financial security and health, some other key worry spots were identified. When asked if having enough time to do the things they want to do was a worry spot, 75 percent of participants agreed and 74 percent agreed that keeping their house clean was a worry for them.
Of all the participants who agreed that keeping their house clean was a worry spot for them, 13 percent said that their kids are always keeping the house messy or dirty and another 13 percent notes that it’s a worry for them because they want to keep it clean at all times.
Luckily for these parents, we partner with some of the best brands in the world, like Kwikset, Petmate, and Phenix Flooring to create products for all areas of the home made specifically to stay cleaner longer, so instead of worrying about the mess the kids are making, they can focus on baking an extra batch of cookies together.
